I got really excited today when I discovered most of Timbaland's new album on The Hype Machine... my excitement was slightly deflated, however, when I realized the release date had been pushed up to tomorrow and I wasn't as "cutting edge" as I thought I was. Anyways, if you're bored and want to take a listen before you torrent it tomorrow, here's the link:
http://hypem.com/artist/timbaland
Bright Eyes (is/are? damn Conor Oberst) coming out with a new album either tomorrow or next week. (I'm pretty sure it's tomorrow). They pretty much defined the whole "emo" movement, whether they will admit to it or not. I heard a song from the album on KCSU this morning and didn't even make the connection that it was them (I'm going with a plural "them" instead of "him"), their style has changed so much. Actually, I was trying to do some background searches to try and find some songs from the album and stumbled across their 4 or 5 song country EP. I was suprised to discover it, and upon listening to it I was kind of into it. Oberst dropped his wavery singing voice in lieu of a stronger, twangy style. I also downloaded a remix of "Easy, Lucky, Free" that was done by Her Space Holiday. Woo.
I'm desperately waiting for Heroes to start back up again (damn you, hiatuses...hiati?) and the one thing that is helping me through my 3-hour class on Monday nights is the new season of The Bachelor. I know, I know, it sounds ridiculous, but the canned romance and drama really gets me. Actually, it's kind of cool because my roomates and I all get together and watch it each week. The guy is kind of a meathead (read: too many muscles) but that face... he could roundhouse kick me in the head and I'd offer to ice his foot.
"With his credentials, how can this 30-year-old prize still be on the market? Maybe because at heart he’s a run-of-the-mill nerd. Despite some impressive action photos in the opening montage, Baldwin looks frail on camera. He mumbles and says “gosh” and “holy moley” a lot."
Hah, love it.
If you haven't gotten a chance to watch Planet Earth on the Discovery Channel, you're missing out. If you've got On Demand, you can watch it -- I just wish I had a high def TV. I watched a few episodes this weekend, which annoyed the crap out of Caroline, which was almost as sweet as actually watching the show.
I can't figure out anything else to write about, so I'm going to go work. Whee!

I really hope all of you have the time to watch all the videos I post -- it's just how lazy I am... Why type when you can SHOW?! (Jazz hands)
If you haven't seen 28 Days Later, then shame on you, because it is one of the most insane zombie movies ever. It's a more plausibly-frightening view of a zombie outbreak -- an infection has caused people to turn into these "super-zombies". They're smart, fast, and ultimately terribly frightening. 28DL takes the zombie genre to a new level; no longer are they the blundering, salivating non-dead of the past.
28 Weeks Later is the story of what happens to England after the infection, how people attempt to return to their everyday lives. However, there still seems to be infected people kept alive to be studied... and thus comes the clusterfuck.
I definitely want to see this movie, but I'm terribly jumpy, and don't enjoy these types of films in theaters. I'll probably have to wait for the DVD.
Here's the trailer:
Oh, and here's the Bourne Ultimatum trailer, just so I can say I had it first.

Holy crap -- this kid rocks. He is seriously a better dancer than I am. I want to be him. Wait. Where am I?

I know that I am slowly ruining my indie music credibility by posting things like this, but I had to put the video for Ormarion's "Ice Box" up to supplement the awesome comment I found below it on YouTube:
skibbz1 (1 month ago)
"I love the part where the ghosts like blowing wind on him and he be like fighting back"
I love that part too, Skibbz.

Ok, this is the best erm, mashup-thingie I've seen in a while... The Office with "Hot in Hurr" -- I know it sounds absoloutely ridiculous, but it works amazingly well.

I found this hilarious mini-quiz on one of my favorite sites:

A) Myxomatosis
B) Diazepam
C) Diphenhydramine
D) Polyethylene
E) Melatonin
F) Atropine
A, D, E: Radiohead songs

I know I haven't been writing a lot lately. I'm not sure why I feel the need to apologize -- ever since my hit counter decided not to work, I have no idea who is looking at my blog, and when. Ok, I never knew who... just when. Muahahaha (?)
I saw Shooter with my dad this weekend I know, I know. It sounds ridiculous, but it was pretty badass, in an "understated badass" way. I had no expectations and it actually worked pretty well (besides some flimsy plot devices used to inspire emotion in a movie that is, in its very essence, an excuse to see Marky Mark blow shit up). I think that Mark Wahlburg is the poor man's Matt Damon. Not that I'm saying Matt Damon is worthy of note -- I just see some similarities.
During the previews for the movie, however, was the winner for my "Good Bloggie Most Talked About and Most Likely to be Terribly Overrated and Barely Make a Mark on the American Movie Scene" award. Hot Fuzz is a movie made and directed by the guys who did Shaun of the Dead. As you may know, SOTD is one of my favorite films, even though it gives me nightmares for no viable reason.
Here's the Hot Fuzz trailer:
Eeeeee....eeee....eeeeee....

Is it sad that I actually sat and watched this for 3 minutes? Seriously. It's mesmerizing.

I have no idea why I'm so obsessed with this song, but I am. Plus, I've now realized that Pitchfork is good for something other than being snotty -- embedable media players!!!

Ok, so this post is kind of strange, and will probably only interest me, but did anyone know that Tony Parker (the bball player) has an album out soon in French? It boggles my mind, because... well, he's an American basketball player, and it's not the most logical choice -- "eh, I'm bored, let's go rap in French. And then do it with Eva Longoria."
It's going to sound ridiculous, but I'm kind of into it.
Je suis Desolé... Je pense.

This "F'in Short Version" of The Departed is absoloutely hilarious. Just how many times must one drop the f-bomb in order to get street cred?
Ever wonder how bands get top billing on the iTunes storefront? This article in the WSJ explains it all:
"Apple's muscle-flexing has begun to rub some artists and music companies the wrong way. During a recent radio interview, outspoken British pop singer Lily Allen accused iTunes of "bullying" artists into supplying exclusive content. There's a further worry among music executives that the few spots available to promote artists on iTunes are dwindling as Apple remakes the store into a broader entertainment destination for TV shows, movies and games.
Lily Allen accuses Apple of "bullying" musicians into providing exclusive content.
But so far, most labels comply because of the site's ability to drive sales. During a week when an album is featured on the iTunes home page it can sell about five times more copies on average through the site than it does in the three to five weeks that follow, when the album isn't featured, says one industry executive."

At least they don't accept money. I couldn't imagine a band like TV on the Radio trying to go head to head with (f'ing) Hinder or Nickelback. Just thinking that makes the room a little colder, doesn't it?
I spent pretty much the entire weekend catching up on "The Office". That show is just insanely hilarious. I hate so many of the characters, but without them the show would just not work. Anyways, I guess NBC is coming up with a new way to get us to sit on our asses in front of the computer:
First, there was "celebreality." Then came "dramality." And now there's a new inane TV term: the "newpeat."
That's what NBC is calling the episodes of "The Office" that it's airing this Thursday. At first glance, you might think that they're just repeating "Traveling Salesmen" and "The Return." But no! says NBC. They're actually going to re-cut the episodes to include some deleted scenes and — according to the Wall Street Journal — insert a new storyline into the old episodes. According to Executive Producer Greg Daniels:
"It's about giving something extra to our wonderful fans. Their loyalty must be rewarded somehow, and we don't have the budget for 10 million muffin baskets."

I'll probably still watch it -- there's a spot on my DVR now where The O.C. used to be....Sigh. I miss you, ol' buddy.
Oh, man, I was trying to find the article I had on Heroes' direction for next season, but I can't find it, so I'll have to explain it myself. I guess for the second season, they're going to introduce all new characters, with all new storylines, sort of as a "chapter two". Supposedly, the characters we know now aren't going to be the major part of the new storyline. I'm not sure how I feel about it -- I'm kind of used to indulging my crush on the Petrelli brothers.
Uh oh, I heardour CEO coming down the hall --I had to hide my Rainbow hippy sandals under my desk. Casual Mondays, anyone? Haha.
We leave in two days for Las Vegas!!! I'm just so excited, I can't handle myself. Unfortch, I'm packing the 30spf sunscreen, because I'm still white as hell from the winter. I just wish there was a brand that didn't make me constantly smell like a 10 year-old. Oh well, I'd rather be "The Girl Who Constantly Smells Like Sunscreen" than "The Girl Who Looks Like A Lobster -- Only Less Hot".

Here's the video for Ok Go's newest single. It's pretty sweet -- I swear, if someone asked me to dress up in wallpaper, I'd do it in a second. But that's just me.

As the title of this post suggests, I'm in hell. I've got so much to do and so little time to do it... which makes for a very angry panda.
I was just laying on my couch, quietly steaming over all of the shit I've got going on, when an ad for Target came on. After seeing it, I sat straight up on the couch and started typing away on my roomate's laptop in fury. "Why", you ask? Because Target's super-cheap CD of the month is none other than Carnavas, the Silversun Pickups' latest release. I have no idea why things like that get me so fired up -- it's just that most people would hear "Lazy Eye" or "Dream at Temp0 119" and be like, "is this The Shins, or Snow Patrol?" Actually, speaking of Snow Patrol, they're coming through town with the SSPs opening for them. For a mere $39.00. Ya know, no big deal.
Oh! The new video for Timbaland's single, "Give It To Me" featuring Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado came out on the internet today. It's fairly unimpressive, being compiled of concert footage and scenes of Timberlake and Timbaland singing into a camera on a tour bus. Alas. The beat is good, and the song is catchy, so I'll let it slide. ;)

"Boring" -- The Pierces
The video above is probably the most ridiculous thing you'll see all day. Not "good-ridiculous", but "sorta-kinda-want-to-punch-your-monitor-but-can't-look-away-ridiculous". It's the worst song ever -- it kind of remids me of Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy" -- but the girls in it are good looking enough to let it grow on you.

I know that most of you know about my irrational fear of zombies. (Sad as it is to admit this, I sometimes get really freaked out in my house and stage elaborate zombie-attack-exit-plans in my head.) I also, for some odd reason, love zombie movies. They're the only part of the horror (if you can call them part of it) genre that I like. My favorite film by far is Shaun of the Dead. It's a damn british zombie masterpiece -- if you haven't seen it, then shame on you. I was reading the trivia section of imdb.com on the film, and ran across some funny little snippets:

The Alkaline Trio used to be my favorite band. I say "used to" because my music tastes have matured a bit, and I'm no longer the spiked-belt wearing angsty teen I once was. (Although, as I type this, my fingers are hitting the keys with black nail polish on them.) On January 30th, they released Remains, a CD-DVD combo of their lesser known B-sides and older tracks. It's funny... three years ago I would have killed for this collection. I think I've seen the Trio like, 4 or 5 times. They're literally great every time, even when Matt Skiba's vocal chords gave out on him and I almost gave up the ghost.

Ran across this on a different blog today -- it's from the iTunes main page. Get it? Bwahaha.
Admittedly, I've been DVRing American Idol a lot lately. I'm not sure why, I just get sucked in. At least this way, I only spend an hour and thirty minutes watching this crap instead of two whole hours. Right? Right?

I'm sure most of you don't have a Blogger account, but if you did, you would know that there were some major changes. All mostly good because it's easier to use the Blogger system now. However, I seem to be having an epic battle with my hit counter. I don't want to get a new one, however, this one won't even fit into the html and count the hits I receive, so I'm a wee bit pissed. However, at last count -- a little over a week ago -- I had 1,951 hits. Add that to the 43 hits from when I mistakenly put a different counter on my site, and you've got...
Over 2000 views!!!!!!!
Cue the trumpets and confetti. That's gotta mean that...
You like me. You really like me.
Oh! This is something I intended to post forever ago when we were getting a lot of snow, but it got lost in my email inbox because of the ridiculous bombardment of Facebook updates. These are pictures of the last time that Colorado got as much snow as we did -- in 1913. It's awesome to look at these pictures and see how things have changed.

I bitch about not having internet sometimes, but I couldn't imagine having that much snow and having to heat up your creaky old mansion.
I've been messing with RSS feeds lately -- it takes a lot of the searchwork out of going to your favorite sites. Plus, you don't get the ads on the top, bottom, and sides, which is nice.
I was reading an article this morning that piqued my interest. I used to post a lot about celebrities on my blog, which was entertaining and all, but one can only write so much about the same people doing the same things. Sure -- if it's noteworthy I'll blog about it, but I've seemed to gravitate away from doins so lately. Anyways, in this article, the author talked about the power and allure of celebrity; how people spend their lives and their money trying to make it big. "In [the article] Halpern cites studies that suggest fame is a factor in other animal groups as well. In one study rhesus monkeys were willing to give up their food simply to stare at a dominant monkey." Weird, eh? It's just funny how obsessed people (even me) get with celebrity. I've found it interesting how "serious news networks" like CNN have been covering Anne Nicole Smith's death so intensely. She's dead, and there are like, 5 potential fathers of her child, I get it. Iguess people want to escape from the more serious news and decide to latch onto people like Anna Nicole.
If you sneeze in your cubicle, and no one's around to hear it, did it really happen?
This is hilarious. If you've ever seen Shutterbugs with Rob Huebel (the guy from Best Week Ever), you'll love this MindFreak parody. The end is the best...
Ahahahahahahahahh! This one is even better. If you skipped that one, (screw you) then watch this one. It's hilarious -- it talks about music bloggers, Pitchfork Media, and it even has Ted Leo in it -- big time.
"Clell Tickle -- Indie Marketing Guru"
"I don't wanna talk about Hambone."
I think that's all I've got -- have a good Monday everyone.
