"Never Went To Church"...

Oh god, so tired. Burt just went stumbling by my room, exclaiming, "I hate my life". I couldn't agree more. I woke up at about 8:30 this morning and spent like, two hours en route back to Fort Collins. Long story. Don't ask.
I went to Denver last night for a party at Kelsi's new house near DU. It was so random and fun... until this morning came and I wanted to die. Heather, I love you for coming. I didn't take any pictures last night, sadly, and only have a video of a really drunk voicemail we left to Carmen that hopefully I'll get Kelsi to upload onto my YouTube account sometime soon.

Here's a really interesting cover of a Streets song, "Never Went to Church" by a band called The Guillemots. It's really, really good.

Speaking of The Streets, I think they may be coming to The Fox sometime this summer... lemme check. Yes!

Mike Skinner's recordings as the Streets marked the first attempt at adding a degree of social commentary to Britain's party-hearty garage/2-step movement. Skinner, a Birmingham native who only later ventured to the capital, was an outsider in the garage scene; though his initial recordings appeared on Locked On, the premiere source for speed garage and, later, 2-step from 1998 to the end of the millennium. He spent time growing up in north London as well as Birmingham, and listened first to hip-hop, then house and jungle. Now, a household name in Electronica and Dance circles, The Streets push their production and performance eccentricities to a new level.

Whoooooo's coming with me?! I'm serious. Omg so excited.

Burt (who is really my roomate Kim) just alerted me that Nelly Furtado is the voice in that new song, "Promiscuous Girl". Uh? Really? Bad move for a such a former free spirit. She should stick to doing songs like the ones she did with Jurassic 5 or Swollen Members... not so much with Timbaland. It's an alright song, I just wish it wasn't with her. Oh well. She is probably trying to revamp her act and apply to 14 year olds. Cause, sadly, thats the way to do it. Sexy-like.

Sometimes I wish I could just go away and be a hermit for a few days at a time. Go to a cabin in the mountains and just chill there. As long as it has, uh, cable and internet and air conditioning, I think I'll be good. But seriously, stuff gets really overwhelming sometimes and I just wish I had a little hole to crawl into.

Anyhoo, I'm going to go watch a movie or something. Bye bye bye.
